(Kailua, Hawaii) With Hawaii Governor David Ige requiring restaurants across the state to shutter their dining rooms, Maui Tacos is shifting to low touch take out options for diners for the Kailua location and has suspended their operations for Pearl Highlands Center. The low touch option will allow diners to call in or place an order online, then pull up curbside where a Maui Tacos associate will deliver their food. For those not leaving their homes at all, Maui Tacos’ Maui-Mex food is also available through DoorDash and Bite Squad.

“Our restaurants are practicing every safety measure recommended by the CDC, and more, to ensure the health and safety of our staff and our diners. We want to do everything that we can to make sure that Oahu stays fed with delicious, made from scratch food while also minimizing risks,” owner Mason Cummings said.

The restaurant locations in Kailua and Pearl City were recently purchased by Cummings who plans to bring innovation and more fresh, local ingredients to the menu, starting with the fish tacos.

In addition to the tacos, there are many menu items that are well-suited for take-out that give diners the Maui-Mex taste that they’ve come to love. The California Burrito, California Quesadilla, and Carne Asada Fries travel well, as do the “Build Your Own” Maui Mex Bowls and Signature Plates.

“A lot of our business already centers around take-out orders, so none of this is new for us. We have an efficient system in place for preparing food to stay as hot and fresh as possible as it makes its way from our restaurant to the diner’s home,” Cummings said.

The Maui Tacos menu offers options for diners with dietary restrictions including those who are vegetarian, vegan, nut-free, and gluten-free. The restaurant also offers a dedicated keiki menu and special family style ohana deals for less than $5 per person.

Maui Tacos will be operating its takeout service from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily in Kailua. Hours are subject to change, based on the evolving situation.

Diners can order online or call in their order to Kailua (808) 261-4155.  Upon arrival at the restaurant, guests can call the store and a Maui Tacos associate will come to their car. To order Maui Tacos for delivery, diners should download the DoorDash or Bite Squad apps and search “Maui Tacos.”

About Maui Tacos:
In December 2019 Mason Cummings purchased the Maui Tacos franchise locations in Kailua and Pearl City on Oahu. With a goal to reinvigorate the menu with more fresh, local ingredients, the Oahu locations are bringing the ‘Maui-Mex’ feeling back to the forefront of the Maui Tacos dining experience. From their signature fish tacos to their pineapples salsa, Maui Tacos Oahu brings the “hola” and the “aloha” to its guests.
